Exploring Smart Home Automation with nRF9160 and Govee Lights

Recently, I’ve been diving into the world of smart home automation, and it’s been an exciting journey! I wanted to share some of my experiences, challenges, and triumphs as I work on integrating various devices into my smart home setup.

Programming the nRF9160

One of the most challenging yet rewarding projects I’ve undertaken is working with the nRF9160 module using the Segger J-Link and JLink.exe. I’ve been trying to program this device for an automatic test application, which involves flashing both modem firmware and an application file. The process has been a bit tricky, especially figuring out where to place the different hex files on the device. After hours of research and some trial and error, I managed to get the connection working and the firmware properly flashed. It’s moments like these that make the learning curve worth it!

Govee Lights: A Touch of Color

On the lighter side (literally!), I’ve been experimenting with Govee smart lights to create vibrant weekend vibes. There’s something truly magical about syncing these lights with music or setting up dynamic scenes for different moods. I’ve been using the Govee app to create custom color schemes and even integrating them with my Alexa routines. It’s amazing how a little bit of RGB can transform a space!

A Call for Advice

As I continue to expand my smart home ecosystem, I’ve come across a few areas where I could use some guidance. For instance, I’ve noticed that my Alexa devices sometimes struggle to communicate with my Sengled bulbs, especially when trying to control them through voice commands. If anyone has tips or tricks for ensuring seamless integration between Alexa and Sengled, I’d be thrilled to hear them!

Final Thoughts

Smart home automation is a constantly evolving field, and it’s incredible to see how far it’s come. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a curious newbie, there’s always something new to learn or experiment with. I’m looking forward to continuing my journey and hopefully contributing more to this amazing community!

Cheers to all the innovators and tinkerers out there! Let’s keep the lights on (and the ideas flowing)!
