I’ve been diving into the world of smart home automation over the past few months, and it’s been an incredible journey. As someone who loves tinkering with technology, I’ve found OpenHab to be an incredibly powerful tool for managing my smart devices. I recently set up OpenHab on a Banana Pi, and it’s been running smoothly without any issues. The ability to customize and integrate various devices has been a game-changer for me.
One of my latest projects has been trying to add voice notifications for my Arlo cameras. I’d love to have a Bluetooth speaker announce the temperature of a room, the state of an input, or even the weather forecast when I give a specific command. If anyone has examples or step-by-step guides on how to achieve this, I’d be incredibly grateful!
I’ve also been using Arlo Pro H8 cameras for security, and they’ve been fantastic—until recently. Around the end of June, all five of my cameras stopped alerting and recording when motion was detected. I’ve tried everything from reformatting the USB stick to adjusting sensitivity settings, but nothing seems to work. It’s frustrating because the live view and manual recording functions still work perfectly. I’m wondering if this is a known issue or if there’s a fix I’m missing.
On a more positive note, I’ve been impressed with how OpenHab handles integration with different devices. For example, I recently set up a scene where my lights adjust based on the time of day and my presence. It’s these little touches that make home automation truly feel seamless.
If anyone has tips on troubleshooting Arlo camera issues or advice on adding voice notifications to OpenHab, I’d love to hear your thoughts! Let’s keep the conversation going and share our experiences with smart home automation.
