Hi everyone, I’ve been diving into the world of smart home automation for the past few months, and it’s been an incredible journey! I started with OpenHAB running on a Raspberry Pi 4, and recently migrated it to my Synology NAS 920+. The transition was smooth, and I’ve been impressed with how much more stable everything feels on the NAS.
I’ve been experimenting with Zigbee devices using both Deconz and ZHA, but I hit a snag with ZHA not supporting ZGP for some of my Zigbee Green Power switches. That’s why I decided to stick with Deconz for now. It’s been a great experience, and I’ve managed to integrate Homematic IP devices alongside Zigbee and DECT for a more comprehensive setup.
One of my favorite projects so far has been creating custom scenes using the Shelly Plus 2PM and Shelly Cloud. For instance, I set up a scene where pressing a button once closes all the blinds in my living room, and holding it for a couple of seconds adjusts them to 2%. It’s a small tweak, but it makes a big difference in convenience.
I’d love to hear about others’ experiences with OpenHAB and Shelly devices. Have you encountered any unique challenges or found innovative solutions? Let’s share tips and tricks to make our smart homes even smarter!
