Exploring Smart Home Automation with Schlage and Zigbee

I’ve recently been diving into the world of smart home automation, and I must say, it’s been an exciting journey! :rocket: I came across the Schlage Sense lock (BE479) and the Schlage Wi-Fi adapter (BR400), and I’m curious to know if there’s any possibility of these devices being supported in the future. I’ve heard great things about Schlage’s integration with smart home systems, and I’m eager to see how these could enhance my home’s security and convenience.

Another area I’ve been exploring is automating my gas fireplace. :baggage_claim: I have a remote to control it, but I’m looking into integrating voice control via Alexa or motion/temperature sensors. I’m thinking of setting it up so that the fireplace activates when I enter the room or when the temperature drops below a certain threshold. If anyone has experience with this, I’d love to hear about your setup and any tips you might have!

On the topic of smart home hubs, I’ve been experimenting with a Zigbee gateway. I purchased a Sonoff ISB Zigbee dongle and connected it to my mini PC where Home Assistant is running. While it works well for monitoring energy consumption, I’m wondering if it’s possible to use this gateway to add devices to the Smart Life app on my phone. Since phones don’t communicate via Zigbee, I’m curious if there’s a workaround or if I need additional hardware to bridge the gap.

I’m also really excited about the RGB bulb I’m getting later today! :rainbow: It’s scheduled to arrive at 2:45 PM or 10:00 PM, and I can’t wait to see how it transforms my living space. I’m thinking of setting up color transitions based on time of day or even integrating it with my music system for a dynamic lighting experience.

Lastly, I stumbled upon the November! thread, and it reminded me to appreciate the little things in life. November is a great time to cozy up at home, and with all these smart devices, it’s easier than ever to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. :maple_leaf:

If anyone has tips, tricks, or experiences to share on any of these topics, I’d love to hear them! Let’s continue to explore and enhance our smart homes together. :hugs:
