Exploring Smart Home Automation with Wyze Cam Pan and Outdoor Sensors

I’ve been diving into the world of smart home automation lately, and I must say, it’s been an exciting journey! I recently set up a Wyze Cam Pan outside my house to keep an eye on things, but I noticed something interesting—when it rotates all the way to the left or right, it just ends up showing the side of my house. It’s kind of pointless for my setup. I was wondering if there’s a way to restrict the panning angle so it doesn’t go beyond a certain degree. I know waypoint settings are an option, but that’s not exactly what I need here. Maybe there’s a workaround or a feature I’m missing? I’d love to hear others’ experiences with similar setups!

On another note, I’ve been experimenting with outdoor sensors and switches to automate heating based on temperature. I came across the ‘It’s Too Cold’ feature in the SmartThings app, which seemed perfect for my needs. I set it up to monitor the outdoor temperature and turn on a heat switch if it drops below 70°F, but it hasn’t been working as expected. The temperature sensor shows 68°F, but neither the switch activates nor do I receive a notification. I’m a bit puzzled—could it be a configuration issue or something else? I’d appreciate any insights or troubleshooting tips!

Lastly, I stumbled upon a discussion about detecting power outages on specific outlets, which got me thinking about my own setup. I have a GFI circuit in my garage that powers freezers and outdoor plugs, and I’d love to be notified if the power goes out. It doesn’t need to be real-time, but it would be a huge help for peace of mind. I’m curious if anyone has successfully implemented such a system and what devices or apps they recommend.

Overall, I’m really enjoying the process of learning and experimenting with these devices. It’s amazing how technology can enhance our daily lives, even in small ways! I look forward to hearing from the community and learning more about everyone’s experiences and tips.
