Exploring Smart Home Automation with Zigbee and Tuya Devices

Hi everyone, I’m diving into the world of smart home automation and wanted to share some of my experiences and challenges so far. I’ve recently started experimenting with Zigbee and Tuya devices, aiming to create a DIY alarm system that integrates seamlessly with my existing setup.

I’ve been using zigbee2mqtt to bridge my Zigbee devices to my openHAB installation, and it’s been a fascinating journey. The Aqara motion sensors I picked up seemed like a great addition, but I’ve run into some connectivity issues. They work for a few hours, and then they just drop off the network. I’ve tried resetting them and adjusting their placement, but nothing seems to keep them stable long-term.

Another hiccup came with my Zigbee valve. It was working perfectly, but after adding the motion sensors, it stopped responding. I had to physically remove the batteries and reinstall them to get it back online. This has me wondering—could adding new devices disrupt the mesh network in unexpected ways?

I’d love to hear from anyone who’s successfully integrated multiple Zigbee and Tuya devices. What strategies have you used to maintain a stable network? Any tips for troubleshooting connectivity issues would be invaluable. Thanks in advance for your insights!
