Hello everyone, I’m thrilled to share my recent journey into the world of smart home technology! 
Over the past few weeks, I’ve been experimenting with various devices to create a seamless and cost-effective system. I wanted to document my experiences and perhaps gather some insights from the community.
Starting with lighting, I’ve been using Philips Hue bulbs for their reliability and vibrant colors. However, I’m curious if there are more budget-friendly alternatives that offer similar functionality and compatibility with my Homey hub. I’ve heard great things about IKEA’s new color bulbs, but I’m not sure about their longevity compared to Hue.
For security, I’ve installed a few motion sensors and door locks. The motion sensors have been a game-changer, providing me with real-time alerts on my phone. I’m now looking into integrating these with my existing smart thermostat to create a more automated heating system. Does anyone have tips on how to ensure smooth integration between different brands?
One challenge I encountered was setting up a scheduled music streaming system. I have a Harmony Hub, Echo Dot, and Denon receiver, but I’m struggling to get my Spotify playlists to play at specific times. I’d love to hear if anyone has successfully achieved this setup!
Lastly, I’m considering adding more DIY projects to my smart home, such as creating a custom indicator for my security system’s mode. I’ve seen some creative solutions using color bulbs, and I’m eager to try something similar. Any suggestions or tutorials would be greatly appreciated!
