Exploring Smart Home Integration and Protocols

I’ve been diving into the world of smart home integration lately, and it’s been quite an adventure! :rocket: I recently moved into a new house and decided to set up a security system that works seamlessly with my existing Hubitat setup. I’ve heard great things about systems that allow me to lock and unlock doors based on whether the security system is armed or disarmed. Does anyone have recommendations for a reliable system that integrates well with Hubitat?

Speaking of integration, I’ve also been pondering the different communication protocols out there—Z-Wave, ZigBee, and Wi-Fi. From what I gather, Z-Wave and ZigBee seem pretty comparable in terms of pros and cons, but Wi-Fi has been making strides, especially with mesh networking. I’m curious to hear others’ experiences—has Wi-Fi become the go-to protocol for most smart home setups? :bulb:

On another note, I stumbled upon a Wyze outdoor plug on clearance at Home Depot for just $5! It’s a fantastic deal, but I’m wondering how it holds up in different weather conditions. Has anyone had experience with these plugs? :ocean:

Lastly, I’ve been experimenting with some DIY projects to enhance my smart home setup. For instance, I’ve been trying to create a relaxing sleep environment using color-changing lights. My latest project is a DIY mint-colored light scheme that’s supposed to help with relaxation. It’s still in the testing phase, but early results are promising! :crescent_moon:

If anyone has tips, tricks, or experiences to share regarding these topics, I’d love to hear them! Let’s keep the conversation flowing and help each other create the smart home of our dreams. :bulb::sparkles:
