Hey everyone, I’ve been diving into various smart home projects lately and wanted to share some of my experiences and tips. Let’s kick things off with my journey setting up a Matter Hub alongside Google Home. While the initial setup was smooth, I encountered an issue where all devices were showing as offline in Google Home. After some research, I realized it might be related to IPv6 configuration on my Proxmox server. I adjusted the network settings, ensuring proper IPv6 static addressing and updated the firewall rules. Now, everything seems to be working seamlessly!
Moving on, I’ve been experimenting with the Garo Chargebox integration using Home Assistant. It’s been a fantastic experience, especially with the ability to automate charging schedules. I set up a command line switch to control availability, which is perfect for managing charging times without trusting my neighbors entirely. The setup involved a rest sensor for data collection and template sensors to make the information more user-friendly. I also created dynamic Lovelace cards that change color based on the chargebox status. If anyone is interested, I’ve detailed the steps and shared the necessary files on my GitHub page.
Another project I’m excited about is optimizing my Blink cameras. I noticed that the cameras were stopping recordings after about 20 seconds, even when motion was still detected. After some tweaking, I discovered that adjusting the motion sensitivity settings and ensuring the firmware was up to date resolved the issue. Now, I get complete recordings, which is a huge improvement for monitoring purposes.
I’d love to hear from others who have tackled similar projects or have tips for improving these setups. Whether it’s Matter Hub configurations, chargebox automation, or camera optimizations, let’s keep the conversation going! ![]()
