Hi everyone! I just wanted to share my recent journey into setting up a more integrated smart home system. It’s been a mix of excitement and a few bumps along the way, but I’m thrilled with the progress so far. 
I’ve been experimenting with the Nest Hub as the centerpiece of my setup. Pairing it with my Sonos speakers and Google TV has been a game-changer for media control. Using Jellyfin as my media server has been a revelation—it’s so versatile and user-friendly. I can now control my entertainment from practically any device, even an old iPhone 4s! 
One thing I struggled with initially was getting everything to play nicely together. I had to dive into grid layouts and tabbed cards to organize my dashboard just right. It’s a bit of a brute force method, but it works perfectly now. The ability to customize each tab to specific media types or rooms has made my setup incredibly efficient. 
I also wanted to mention the IKEA motion sensors I’ve integrated. They’ve added a layer of convenience I didn’t realize I needed. The lights dim when I’m not in the room, and the Sonos adjusts the volume based on motion. It’s these small touches that really make a home feel smart. 
For anyone looking to set up something similar, I’d highly recommend starting with HTTPS and Cloudflared for secure access. It might seem daunting at first, but the peace of mind is worth it. Plus, the integration with the Nest Hub’s casting functionality is seamless once everything is configured.
