Hi everyone, I’m really excited to share my journey of integrating my smart home devices using both Alexa and Google Assistant. It’s been quite a learning curve, but the results have been amazing!
I recently transitioned from being a Google household to incorporating Alexa after some challenges with my Roborock vacuum integration. Within minutes of setting up my Echo Dot, I was able to create a physical button that triggers the vacuum to clean specific rooms. It’s such a handy feature, and I’m thrilled with how seamless it was to set up!
Now that I’ve dipped my toes into the Alexa ecosystem, I’m curious about the other cool things I can do with Alexa and Hubitat. I’ve heard so much about the flexibility of Alexa routines and how they can enhance daily life. I’d love to hear from others about their favorite Alexa-based setups or any innovative projects they’ve undertaken!
On the Google side, I’ve been experimenting with integrating temperature sensors into Google Home. It’s a bit tricky, but I found a reliable method that involves creating virtual thermostats and adding them to Google Home before setting up any rules. This approach ensures that Google recognizes the devices without any issues. I’d be happy to share the step-by-step process if anyone is interested!
I’m also exploring alternative voice assistants and setups to complement my existing ecosystem. For instance, I’ve been looking into using a Google Nest Mini with Google TTS for voice output, though the voice quality isn’t perfect. It’s a work in progress, and I’m open to suggestions on improving this setup.
What about you? Have you successfully integrated multiple voice assistants or found unique ways to enhance your smart home experience? I’d love to hear your stories and tips!
Cheers,
