Hey everyone, I’ve been exploring some interesting smart home solutions lately and wanted to share my experiences and ask for some advice!
First, I’ve been looking into using Govee Curtain Lights for my outdoor patio. They’re supposed to be weather-resistant, but I’m a bit concerned about direct sunlight and potential wind issues. Has anyone successfully used these lights outdoors? Any tips for securing them properly would be greatly appreciated!
Another project I’ve been working on is setting up garage lights automation. I’ve got a system in place where the lights turn on via a contact sensor or motion sensor. However, the automation only starts a countdown when the motion sensor turns off, which isn’t ideal if the lights are turned on manually or via the contact sensor. I’d love to have the countdown reset every time the lights are turned on, regardless of the trigger. Any suggestions on how to achieve this would be fantastic!
On the topic of energy monitoring, I’ve been experimenting with tracking my freezer’s energy usage to detect if the door is left slightly open. By monitoring the freezer’s power consumption through a smart plug, I can detect increased activity that might indicate an open door. I’ve set up an alert system using OpenHAB, but I’m curious if others have similar setups or any alternative methods they’d recommend.
Lastly, I’ve been researching smart plugs that support energy monitoring and work seamlessly with Zigbee or Z-Wave. I’d love to hear recommendations for reliable, battery-powered options that can integrate well with my existing setup.
Would love to hear your thoughts and experiences with similar setups! Let’s brainstorm together and share some insights!
