Hi everyone! I’ve been diving into the world of smart home devices lately, and I wanted to share some of my experiences and questions with you all. Hopefully, someone out there can offer some insights or tips!
First off, I recently got my hands on some Tuya WHD02 zigbee switches. At first, I was a bit puzzled because after pairing them with zigbee2mqtt, I wasn’t seeing them show up as expected in my entities. But after some research, I managed to figure out the right configuration. It was a bit tricky, but I’m happy to share the solution I found in case anyone else is struggling with the same issue. The key was adding the correct syntax in my configuration.yaml file. I’ll spare you the technical details, but it involved setting up the state and command topics properly. Feel free to reach out if you’d like more specifics!
Another project I’ve been working on is integrating my garage door opener with the Apple HomeKit add-on. It’s been a breeze to set it up so that the garage door appears on my car’s home screen when I’m near my house. My wife, however, uses Android, so now I’m trying to replicate this setup for her. I’ve heard that the OH Google Assistant Action might be the way to go, but I’m not entirely sure how to get the garage door onto the home screen in Android Auto. If anyone has experience with this, I’d love to hear your advice!
On a lighter note, I’ve noticed that some of my lights aren’t changing colors as expected. It’s a bit frustrating because I really enjoy the ambiance they can create. I’m wondering if this is a common issue or if there’s a specific setting I might have missed. The community here is so helpful, so I’m hoping someone can shed some light on this!
Lastly, I’ve been eyeing the G410 doorbell but I’m curious if it’s possible to skip the chime altogether. I’d still need the WiFi signal, but the sound isn’t something I need in my setup. I’m planning to get one soon, so any insights would be greatly appreciated!
Overall, it’s been an exciting journey exploring all the possibilities smart home devices offer. I’m looking forward to hearing from you all and maybe picking up some new tips along the way. Thanks for being such a supportive community!
