Exploring Smart Lighting and Automation with Shelly and Home Assistant

Hey everyone, I’m really excited to share my journey into the world of smart lighting and automation! :rocket: I recently purchased a Shelly 2.5 device and integrated it into my Home Assistant setup, and I have to say, the possibilities are endless! :star2:

I’ve been using IKEA Trådfri smart bulbs for a while now, and while they’re great on their own, adding the Shelly devices has taken my lighting setup to the next level. I’ve managed to create some really cool automations, like dimming the lights in the evening and gradually increasing their brightness in the morning. It’s like having a personal lighting assistant!

One thing I’m still figuring out is how to replace my current dumb switches with smart ones. I’ve heard great things about Shelly and Sunricher, but I’m not entirely sure which one would be the best fit for my needs. I live in Sweden, so compatibility with local standards is a must. If anyone has experience with either of these brands, I’d love to hear your thoughts! :speech_balloon:

Another challenge I’m facing is getting my devices to work seamlessly together. I have an Aeotec Smart Home Hub, and while it’s been reliable, I’m curious about the benefits of switching to a Home Assistant Yellow for better performance and expandability. I’m also wondering if I need additional hardware, like a Bluetooth adapter, to fully utilize features like Matter and Thread.

I’d love to hear from anyone who’s gone through a similar setup process or has tips for optimizing their smart lighting and automation systems. Let’s keep the conversation going and help each other create the smart home of our dreams! :house_with_garden::sparkles:
