Smart lighting and camera automation have been game-changers for my home setup. I’ve been experimenting with integrating different brands like Wyze and Ring to create a seamless security and lighting system. While the process has had its challenges, the results have been truly rewarding.
One of the most exciting projects I’ve worked on is setting up my Ring Floodlight cameras to flash Philips Hue bulbs when motion is detected. It’s a simple yet effective deterrent for potential intruders. However, I ran into an issue where the flashing lights would bother my wife when she was working in the yard. To solve this, I created a virtual switch called ‘Flasher’ that allows me to toggle the flashing feature on and off. This way, I can disable the lights manually without affecting the camera’s functionality.
