Exploring Smart Lighting Automation and Motion Sensors

Hi everyone, I wanted to share my recent experience with setting up smart lighting automation in my home. It’s been a fascinating journey, and I’ve learned a lot along the way. :rocket:

I recently purchased the Govee 65.6 Feet LED Strip Lights, and I’m absolutely thrilled with their performance. The vibrant colors and smooth transitions have completely transformed my living space. However, I ran into a small issue with the power supply for my second project. After some research, I discovered that using a compatible power adapter was the key to resolving the issue. It’s always a bit nerve-wracking when you’re experimenting with new setups, but the end result was well worth the effort! :bulb:

Another topic I wanted to touch on is motion sensor automation. I’ve been using a template sensor to trigger alarms based on motion detection in my bedroom and office. The setup works perfectly when I use a single entity, but when I tried combining both motion sensors, the automation didn’t trigger as expected. After some trial and error, I realized the issue was with the state transitions. The sensor’s state was returning multiple values, which confused the automation. To fix this, I adjusted the logic to handle multiple states more effectively. It’s a great reminder of how important it is to carefully design your automation rules. :hammer_and_wrench:

I’d love to hear from others who have experience with similar setups. Have you encountered any unique challenges with motion sensors or template automation? What tips or tricks have you found useful? Let’s keep the discussion going! :handshake:
