Exploring Smart Lighting Automation on the V2 Hub

Hello fellow smart home enthusiasts! I’ve recently migrated my system to the v2 hub and I’m excited to share my experiences, particularly with the new Smart Lighting app. While the transition has been smooth in many areas, I’ve encountered an interesting challenge with lighting automation that I’d love to discuss with the community.

My setup involves a motion sensor in a room that’s programmed to turn on and adjust the level of a dimmer switch based on the current mode. I’ve created two lighting automations in the Smart Lighting app: one for when the mode is set to ‘Home’ (which sets the dimmer to 100%) and another for when the mode is ‘Night’ (which sets it to 50%).

However, I’ve noticed a peculiar issue. Regardless of whether the mode is ‘Home’ or ‘Night’, the dimmer always defaults to 100%. This is puzzling because the system correctly recognizes the mode, and I’ve double-checked the automation settings. I’m wondering if there’s an underlying conflict in how the automations are structured within the same app. Could it be that having both ‘Home’ and ‘Night’ mode automations under the same app is causing one to override the other?

I’m curious to hear if others have experienced similar behavior or if there’s a best practice for structuring lighting automations, especially when dealing with multiple modes. Is it advisable to create separate apps for each mode to avoid conflicts? Or is there a setting I might have overlooked that could resolve this issue?

This has been a fascinating journey, and I’m eager to learn from the community’s experiences. Whether it’s tips on automation setup or insights into how the Smart Lighting app processes multiple mode-based rules, I’m all ears! Let’s continue to explore and optimize our smart lighting setups together. :rocket::bulb:
