Hey everyone!
I’ve been diving into the world of smart lighting automation lately, and I wanted to share some of my experiences and tips with you all. It’s been such a fun journey, and I’m excited to hear how others are tackling similar projects!
First off, I’ve been using Govee lights for their vibrant colors and ease of setup. I recently tried syncing my lights with my phone’s battery percentage using Apple Shortcuts, and it’s been a blast! ![]()
The idea is simple: when my phone’s battery drops below 20%, my living room lights turn red as a warning. When it’s charging, they switch to green. It’s such a cool way to keep track of my phone’s battery without constantly checking it!
However, I ran into a small hiccup when trying to set this up. Initially, my lights wouldn’t respond to the shortcut commands. After some research, I realized it was a matter of ensuring both my phone and lights were on the same Wi-Fi network and that the Govee app was up to date. Once that was sorted, everything worked like a charm! ![]()
Another thing I’ve been experimenting with is creating custom scenes for different moods. For example, I have a relaxing “movie night” scene with dimmed lights and a warm color palette, and a vibrant “party mode” with pulsating colors. It’s amazing how much these little touches can enhance the ambiance of a room! ![]()

I’d love to hear from others about their smart lighting setups and any tips or tricks they’ve discovered. Have you tried integrating your lights with other smart devices or services? What’s been your favorite project so far? Let’s keep the ideas flowing! ![]()
