Hey everyone,
I’ve been diving into the world of smart lighting automation lately, and I wanted to share some of my experiences and insights. I recently picked up a GE Z-Wave Motion Sensor Dimmer Switch, and I’m trying to figure out the best way to set up a schedule for my bathroom lights. The goal is to have the lights turn on at full brightness when the sensor is tripped between 6:30 AM and 11 PM, and then switch to a dimmer setting (around 10%) during the overnight hours.
I’ve heard that the SmartThings Smart Lighting Automation feature might be the way to go, but I’m not entirely sure how to set this up. From what I understand, I’d need to pair the sensor with a non-motion sensor switch to trigger the automation. But I’m curious about the delay between the sensor detecting motion and the lights actually turning on. Is it instantaneous, or could there be a slight lag that I should account for?
Another thing I’m considering is whether this setup could interfere with any existing automations or routines I have in place. I want to make sure that adding this new rule won’t cause any conflicts or unexpected behavior with my other smart devices.
If anyone out there has experience with setting up similar automations, especially with GE Z-Wave devices, I’d love to hear your tips and tricks. Have you encountered any issues with delays or compatibility? What steps did you take to ensure smooth operation?
Looking forward to hearing from you all!
Best,
