Exploring Smart Lighting Integration and Motion Detection

Hey everyone, I’m diving into the world of smart lighting and motion detection, and I wanted to share my experiences and some questions I have along the way. :rocket:

I recently upgraded my hallway lighting to a smart setup using Aqara wall switches and Philips Hue GU10 bulbs. The goal was to have lights that automatically adjust based on motion and time of day. Initially, everything worked smoothly—motion detection triggered the lights, and they dimmed after a few minutes of inactivity. However, I noticed an issue where the lights would reset to full brightness every time they turned on, ignoring the previous brightness level. After some research, I realized this was a configuration problem in the Zigbee2MQTT integration. Adjusting the ‘Power-on behavior’ settings in Home Assistant solved the issue, and now the lights remember their last state! :tada:

Now, I’m curious about integrating this setup with other devices. For instance, I have a Wyze camera in the hallway, and I’d love to have the lights automatically adjust based on the camera’s motion detection. Does anyone have experience with this kind of integration? I’m also thinking about adding scene automation, like dimming the lights when it’s late at night or brightening them during the day. Any tips or resources would be appreciated! :star2:

On a different note, I stumbled upon the Aqara smart three-way switches and am intrigued by their ability to control lights from multiple locations without rewiring. I’m planning to install these in my home, but I’m wondering how they integrate with existing smart home ecosystems like OpenHAB or Home Assistant. Has anyone successfully paired these with other Zigbee devices?

Lastly, I wanted to share a neat workaround I found for remote device resets. While it’s true that some devices require physical intervention, I discovered that resetting my router and modem can sometimes resolve connectivity issues with my Wyze plugs. It’s not a perfect solution, but it’s a helpful tip for anyone dealing with similar problems. :hammer_and_wrench:

I’m really enjoying the journey of customizing my smart home, and I’m excited to see what other innovations I can incorporate. Thanks for reading, and feel free to share your thoughts or experiences below!
