Hi everyone, I’m diving into the world of smart lighting automation and wanted to share my experiences and seek some advice. I’ve set up three smart lighting rules to manage my home’s lighting efficiently, but I’m encountering an issue during the overlap periods, and I’m curious if others have faced similar challenges or have solutions to share.
My current setup includes:
- Morning Rule: Turns lights on at 7 AM and off at 8 AM.
- Evening Rule: Activates lights at 7 PM and turns them off at 10:30 PM.
- Motion Sensing Rule: Engages lights from 10:30 PM to 7 AM, with a 2-minute timeout after motion ceases.
The system works smoothly most of the time, but I’ve noticed an issue when there’s motion detected just before the morning rule kicks in. For instance, if motion is detected at 6:59 AM, the lights turn on as expected. However, after the 2-minute timeout, instead of the morning rule turning the lights off at 8 AM, they remain on. This overlap is causing unintended behavior, and I’m wondering if there’s a way to ensure the morning rule takes precedence once its scheduled time arrives.
I’m considering whether the rules need to be prioritized or if there’s a setting I’m missing that could prevent this overlap. Has anyone else encountered a similar issue with their smart lighting system? I’d love to hear how you’ve managed your automation rules to avoid such conflicts.
Additionally, I’m curious about best practices for managing multiple lighting rules, especially when they overlap. Are there specific strategies or tools within the platform that can help streamline this process? Any insights or tips would be greatly appreciated!
Looking forward to hearing from the community and learning more about how others have tackled similar automation challenges.
