Hey everyone, I’ve been diving into the world of smart lighting lately and wanted to share my experiences and thoughts. I’ve been using a mix of LIFX and Hue lights in my home, but I’m now looking to consolidate everything to one brand for easier management.
I’ve been really impressed with the brightness and color accuracy of LIFX bulbs, especially the Nightvision BR30s I tried earlier. However, their connectivity issues have been a bit of a pain point for me. I’ve had instances where the bulbs become unresponsive after a power outage, which is frustrating, especially with a high ceiling that makes them hard to reach.
On the other hand, Hue has been more reliable for me. The BR30 bulbs I’ve been using provide consistent performance, and I love how easy it is to integrate them with my existing smart home ecosystem. That said, I do miss the brighter output and more vibrant colors that LIFX offers.
I’ve heard that newer LIFX models might have improved reliability, but I’m still hesitant due to the reset method they use, which I find a bit clunky. I’m also curious to see when they’ll adopt Matter over Thread, as I think that would make their ecosystem even more robust.
If anyone has experience with the newer LIFX models or has successfully integrated LIFX into a mixed ecosystem, I’d love to hear about your experiences! I’m trying to decide whether to give LIFX another shot or stick with Hue despite their limitations. Thanks for sharing your insights!
