As a long-time Disney enthusiast, I thought I’d share my favorite Disney movie and how it inspired my recent smart lighting project. For those who haven’t guessed, my all-time favorite is The Lion King. There’s something magical about Simba’s journey and the vibrant African savanna that never fails to inspire me.
This inspiration led me to create a smart lighting setup that mimics the colors and ambiance of the savanna. I used a combination of RGB LED strips and smart bulbs to recreate the warm golden hues of sunrise and sunset. Pairing this with a sound system that plays Disney’s classic soundtrack creates an immersive experience that feels like being in the Pride Lands!
For those interested in similar projects, I recommend starting with a simple setup using a hub like Hubitat or OpenHAB. Begin with a few smart bulbs and gradually add more components as you get comfortable. The key is to experiment with different color combinations and settings to find what works best for your space.
