Hello everyone, I’ve been diving deep into the world of smart home automation and it’s been an exciting journey! 
I’ve been experimenting with setting up automated lighting based on day and night cycles, and I wanted to share my experiences and insights with you all. My goal was to create a system where my outdoor lights automatically adjust based on whether it’s daytime or nighttime. While I initially relied on sunrise and sunset schedules, I realized that detecting actual light levels would provide a more reliable solution. This led me to explore sensors that could detect luminance changes. After some research, I came across the Fibaro Z-Wave Motion Sensor, which seemed promising. However, I faced some challenges in getting it to work seamlessly with my existing setup. I reached out to the community for advice and was pleasantly surprised by the helpful responses. It turns out that while the sensor itself is great, the integration with certain systems can be tricky. I ended up tweaking my configuration and using some custom rules to make everything work smoothly. Speaking of rules, I’ve been experimenting with OpenHAB and found it to be a powerful tool for creating custom automation. I set up a rule where my outdoor lights dim during the night but remain responsive to motion sensors. This has been a game-changer for balancing energy efficiency and security. Another highlight of my journey was discovering the Govee app and their range of smart devices. Their Christmas ball ornaments, for instance, added a festive touch to my home, and the app’s user-friendly interface made setup a breeze.
