Hi everyone, I wanted to share my journey with smart lighting and how it’s transformed my home. Over the past few months, I’ve been experimenting with different smart bulbs and controllers, and I must say, the experience has been both exciting and a bit challenging.
I recently upgraded my living room lighting by replacing an old bulb with a dimmable LED from Govee. The installation went smoothly, and I was impressed with how seamlessly it integrated with my existing Z-Wave setup. However, I encountered an interesting issue where the LED wouldn’t completely switch off—it would dim to the lowest setting but still remain on. This was a bit puzzling, especially since I had the same bulb installed downstairs with a different switch, and it worked perfectly there.
After some research and trial and error, I discovered that the issue might be related to the type of switch I was using. The two-wire installation seemed to be causing the LED to stay on at the lowest brightness level. To resolve this, I decided to try a different approach by using a Z-Wave Plus switch and a smart controller. This combination worked like a charm, and now the LED switches off completely without any residual light.
This experience taught me the importance of choosing the right components when setting up a smart lighting system. It also highlighted how much fun it can be to troubleshoot and optimize these devices. I’ve since become a fan of Govee products, especially their user-friendly apps and consistent performance.
