Hi everyone, I’m really excited to share my thoughts on Nanoleaf’s latest addition to their Essentials line—the Matter-compatible multicolour LED strip. After seeing their recent announcement, I couldn’t help but dive into the details!
First off, it’s fantastic to see Nanoleaf expanding their product range with Matter support. This new strip, while not using Thread, offers Matter over WiFi, which is a great option for those who prefer or need WiFi connectivity. The strip itself is 16.4ft (5m) long with 300 LEDs, providing a decent 550lm per metre. It’s cuttable every six LEDs, which gives some flexibility without the need for smaller segments.
One of the standout features is the new controller they’ve introduced. It supports music mode, power, and brightness adjustments, which adds a nice touch for customization. I’m curious to see how the colour transitions and effects will perform in a real setup.
The Matter compatibility means it seamlessly integrates with Apple Home, which is a huge plus. However, it’s a bit disappointing that Adaptive Lighting isn’t supported since it’s an Apple Home exclusive feature. Still, with 16 million colour options and cool-to-warm white settings, there’s plenty of room for creativity.
I’m also intrigued by the pricing at €69.99 on their German site. It would be great to see this available globally soon. For those looking to avoid Thread, this could be an ideal choice, especially if they’re already invested in the Apple ecosystem.
I’d love to hear from anyone who has had a chance to try this strip out. How does it perform in real-world scenarios? Does the colour accuracy live up to expectations? Any tips on integrating it with existing setups would be invaluable!
Until then, I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a smooth launch and wider availability. Fingers crossed for some hands-on time in the near future!
