As a homeowner looking to upgrade my lighting system, I’ve been diving into the world of smart lighting solutions. After researching various options, I’ve narrowed my focus to two popular brands: Xiaomi and Aqara. Both offer door/window sensors and lighting automation, but I’m curious about their performance and compatibility with my existing setup.
I recently installed Xiaomi Mi Smart Home Binding for my door sensors, but I noticed that the battery levels aren’t being reported to my openHAB system. Strangely, the Aqara sensors are working perfectly fine. I checked the Xiaomi app, and the sensor data is available there, including battery levels and open/closed states. This inconsistency is puzzling. Does anyone else have the same issue? Any ideas on how to resolve this would be greatly appreciated!
On the other hand, I’ve heard fantastic things about Aqara’s reliability and integration capabilities. Their door sensors can handle up to 24 devices, which is impressive compared to Xiaomi’s limit of 6. I’m now wondering if switching to Aqara would be worth the investment, especially for a more scalable and reliable system.
If anyone has experience with either brand or can offer tips on ensuring seamless integration with openHAB, I’d love to hear your insights. This journey into smart lighting has been both exciting and challenging, and I’m eager to find the best solution for my home.
