Hey everyone, I’m diving into the world of smart lighting with my IKEA Trådfri bulbs and remote. It’s been a fun journey so far, but I’m hitting a bit of a snag with the setup. I wanted to share my experience and see if anyone has some tips!
So, I’ve successfully paired my bulbs and remote with the Zigbee binding on my openHAB setup. The bulbs light up, and the remote works—definitely a win! But I’m a bit confused about the best way to integrate everything seamlessly. In the IKEA setup, I know the order is to pair the remote to the bulbs first, and then to the bridge. But since I’m using the Zigbee binding instead of the bridge, I’m wondering if there’s a specific order or configuration I should follow to get the same functionality.
My goal is to control the bulbs directly from openHAB and still use the remote as I would with the IKEA system. I’m not sure if I need to set up any specific rules or automations in openHAB for this to work smoothly. I’ve seen some examples online, but I’m still a bit overwhelmed by all the possibilities.
On a positive note, the community here has been amazing. I found some helpful guides and forums that have already solved a few of my initial issues. It’s great to know there’s such a supportive group of people out there willing to share their knowledge.
If anyone has experience with pairing IKEA Trådfri devices through the Zigbee binding, I’d love to hear your setup process or any tips you might have. Whether it’s about the pairing order, specific configurations, or best practices for integrating everything, I’m all ears!
Thanks in advance for any advice you can share. I’m really excited to get this working and start exploring more smart home possibilities. ![]()
