One thing I’m curious about is whether the Smart Lock (gen 4, non-Pro) will support Matter’s user management features. Specifically, I’d love to know if commands like “Set User Status” (0x09) can be sent directly from my controller software. I’ve read through the Matter 1.2 Application Cluster Specification, and it seems like this should be possible, but I want to make sure I’m not missing anything.
Another question I have is about the firmware update mentioned for early 2024. Will this update be necessary to enable Matter integration, or will it be optional? I’m also wondering if purchasing “Remote Access via Thread” will be required to fully utilize Matter’s capabilities with my lock. I’d hate to find out that additional hardware is needed after making a purchase.
I’m really looking forward to diving into this project and seeing how Matter can improve the functionality of my smart lock.
