Exploring Smart Locks and Sensor Automation in My Home Setup

I’ve been diving into the world of smart home automation lately, and it’s been a fascinating journey! One of my recent projects involved integrating a Yale Linus smart lock and a SwitchBot bot into my Hubitat ecosystem. While the process was a bit challenging at first, it’s been incredibly rewarding to see everything working seamlessly together.

Speaking of locks, I’ve also been using the Nuki Smart Lock Ultra, and I must say, it’s been a game-changer for my home security. However, I did run into an issue where the lock would show as offline in the Nuki app, even though it was still connected to my UniFi network. After some troubleshooting, I realized it might be related to DNS or firewall settings on my router. Adjusting those settings helped stabilize the connection, and now it’s working like a charm!

On the lighting front, I recently purchased some Govee LED lights, and I’m absolutely thrilled with them. Their vibrant colors and smooth dimming capabilities have really transformed my living space. It’s amazing how a simple upgrade like this can make such a big difference in the ambiance of a room.

Another area I’ve been exploring is automation with sensors. I have a Shelly EM energy sensor monitoring my 240V breaker, and while it initially only showed the load for one phase, I figured out a workaround by doubling the reading to get an accurate energy consumption value. This little tweak has been incredibly helpful for tracking my energy usage more effectively.

Overall, my journey into smart home automation has been filled with both challenges and triumphs. It’s incredible how these devices can enhance our daily lives when set up correctly. I’m excited to continue exploring new ways to integrate and optimize my smart home setup. If anyone has tips or tricks for improving automation workflows, I’d love to hear them!
