I’ve been diving into the world of smart switches and automations lately, and I wanted to share some of my experiences and questions with you all. Hopefully, this can spark some interesting discussions or even help someone who’s tackling similar projects!
First off, I’ve been really impressed with the SONOFF ZBMINI-L Zigbee 3.0 Smart Switch by ITead. It’s such a sleek device, and the fact that it works without a neutral wire is a game-changer for my setup. I’ve been using it to control some lights around the house, and it’s been performing beautifully. However, I’m curious about its capabilities as a Zigbee router. From what I’ve read, it’s configured as a Zigbee End Device (ZED), which means it doesn’t act as a repeater. Does anyone have experience with similar devices and their performance in a mesh network? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
On the automation front, I’ve been working on a project to monitor the temperature in my freezer. I set up a sensor that triggers an alert if the temperature rises above a certain threshold. The sensor itself works like a charm, but I’ve been struggling with getting the alert to automatically navigate to a specific dashboard. I’ve tried using binary states (on/off) to trigger the navigation, but it just doesn’t seem to work. Any tips or tricks for setting this up would be incredibly appreciated!
Another thing I’ve been experimenting with is integrating my Aeotec Z-Stick 10 Pro with OpenHAB. I’ve had some success with pairing devices, but I’ve noticed that older Z-Wave devices aren’t being discovered as reliably as they were with my old Z-Stick 5. I’m wondering if anyone else has encountered this issue and if there’s a workaround or a setting I might be missing. The logs I’ve reviewed don’t seem to provide much clarity, so any guidance would be a huge help!
Lastly, I wanted to share a quick tip I came across for those looking to set up zone floor heating. I’ve been researching thermostats and servo controllers that can integrate seamlessly with Homey. The KS230 Neutral Wire Thermostat has been getting some great reviews, and I’m really impressed with its compatibility and ease of use. If anyone has experience with this or similar devices, I’d love to hear about your setup!
