Exploring Smart Thermostat Solutions for Heated Floors

As a homeowner with heated floors, I’ve been pondering over the best way to optimize their performance. My entrance has heated floors, but the thermostat relies on air temperature to decide when to activate, which often results in cold floors and slower drying of rainwater or snow. This has been a bit of a nuisance, but I think I might have a solution!

I stumbled upon the idea of using a percentage-based thermostat approach. By setting up an input_number from 0-100% and creating an automation, I could control the thermostat’s activation time. For example, 20% would translate to 12 minutes of heating every hour. This seems like a practical workaround, but I wonder if this functionality is already built into the generic_thermostat integration. If not, it might be a valuable feature to consider for future updates.

I’d love to hear if anyone else has tackled a similar issue or if there’s a more streamlined way to achieve this. Maybe there’s a smarter way to integrate temperature sensors or adjust the thermostat’s sensitivity. Let me know your thoughts or if you’ve found a better solution out there!

Cheers,
