Hello everyone, I wanted to share my recent experience with the Iris 7-Day Touch Screen Programmable Thermostat. While it’s not the cheapest option out there, I found it to be a great fit for my smart home setup, especially when paired with SmartThings for additional control. The thermostat’s compatibility with Z-Wave and its programmable features make it a solid choice for those looking to integrate a basic smart thermostat without breaking the bank.
However, my journey with smart home devices isn’t without its challenges. I’ve been experimenting with ESPHome and encountered an issue where all my ESP devices were showing as offline. Despite being able to access them via their IP addresses and the entities functioning correctly, the ESPHome dashboard wasn’t reflecting their online status. This was a bit puzzling, especially after a fresh installation. I tried troubleshooting by checking network configurations and ensuring all devices were on the same subnet, but the issue persisted. I’d love to hear if anyone else has faced this and how they resolved it!
On a more positive note, I’ve been impressed with how ESPHome simplifies the setup of custom devices. It’s empowering to create tailored solutions that perfectly fit my home’s needs. I’m currently exploring ways to integrate more sensors and actuators into my system, which I hope to share in future posts.
If anyone has tips on improving ESPHome device connectivity or has recommendations for other thermostat options, I’d love to hear your thoughts! Let’s continue to learn and grow together in the world of smart home automation. ![]()
