Exploring Smart Washer Automation and Aqara Cube T1 Pro

Recently, I’ve been diving into the world of smart home automation, and I must say, it’s been quite an adventure! One of the devices I’ve been experimenting with is the Aqara Cube T1 Pro. After having some reliability issues with the T1 edition on Hubitat, I decided to give the new generation cube a try. It’s been much more reliable, staying connected to the Zigbee network for over a month now. However, I’ve noticed that the Xiaomi Mi Cube Controller driver doesn’t seem to work as expected. The debug logs show some activity, but no events are triggered. I’m curious if anyone else has had success with this driver or if there’s a workaround to make it function properly.

On another note, I’ve been brainstorming ways to automate my washing machine. Currently, I’ve set up Alexa to notify us when the machine is ready, but sometimes we still forget to unload it. I’m wondering if there’s a smarter way to detect when the machine is empty without having to install additional sensors. Maybe using some kind of motion sensor or even integrating with the machine’s existing signals? I’d love to hear if anyone has tackled this challenge before.

Lastly, I’ve been exploring different approaches to setting up my local network. Separating IoT devices into their own network seems like a good idea for both security and maintenance purposes. I’m considering using VLANs or mesh networks to keep things organized. It’s been a learning curve, but I’m excited to see how this setup will improve my smart home experience.

Overall, while there are a few hurdles to overcome, the journey into smart home automation has been incredibly rewarding. I’m looking forward to discovering more innovative solutions and sharing my experiences along the way!
