Hello SmartHome enthusiasts!
I wanted to share my recent journey with SmartThings and my Bose Soundtouch Multiroom setup. It’s been quite the adventure, filled with both challenges and triumphs!
Starting with SmartThings, I must admit, it was a bit rocky at first. Between the occasional delays in notifications and the quirks with Hue and Sonos integrations, I was beginning to feel a bit discouraged. But then, the addition of DropCam integration completely turned things around for me!
The ability to tie SmartThings ‘things’ to DropCam has opened up a whole new world of possibilities. For instance, knowing that I’ll get a notification and picture when my kids’ patio door is open gives me peace of mind I never imagined.
Now, onto my Bose Soundtouch Multiroom setup!
I’ve always been a fan of Bose, and setting up a multiroom system was something I’ve wanted for ages. The process wasn’t without its hurdles, especially since the official binding doesn’t support Multiroom. But here’s the exciting part—I created my own solution using the Soundtouch and HTTP bindings! ![]()
The best part? The rules are written in a way that they scale with any number of devices. Currently, I have three Soundtouch units, and it works seamlessly! When one speaker turns on, others automatically join in, creating a smooth multiroom experience. I even implemented a ‘PartyMode’ where all speakers play together with a single command. It’s been a fantastic way to enjoy music throughout the house without any hassle.
I’d love to hear from others who have tackled similar projects or have tips for improving my setup. Let’s continue to explore and innovate together! ![]()
