I recently installed a Wyze V3 Camera and a garage door controller, and I must say, the initial setup was seamless. The integration with Google Assistant worked like magic, allowing me to control my garage door with just my voice. However, a few weeks ago, Wyze pushed a firmware update, and everything changed. The garage door controller stopped responding to my voice commands through Google Assistant or the Google Home app. I tried everything—factory reboots, disconnecting and reconnecting my Wyze account, multiple power cycles—but nothing worked. The Google Assistant kept saying, ‘That mode isn’t available for that device.’ It was frustrating, to say the least.
After some research, I found that others were experiencing similar issues. It seems the firmware update might have caused compatibility problems. I’m hoping Wyze will address this soon. In the meantime, I’ve reverted to using the Wyze app for manual control, but it’s not the same as the smooth integration I had before.
This experience has made me more cautious about firmware updates. While they’re meant to improve functionality, they can sometimes introduce unexpected issues. I’d love to hear from others who’ve had similar experiences or found solutions. Have you encountered any firmware-related issues with your smart devices? How did you resolve them?
