Exploring SmartThings Integration for Water Valve Project

Hi everyone, I’m thrilled to share my latest project! I’ve been working on developing a web-enabled water valve called Zilker, which aims to bring smart irrigation to the next level. :seedling: Until recently, we were planning to design our own hub, but we’ve now shifted focus to integrating with Z-Wave and SmartThings. This decision was driven by the desire to leverage existing ecosystems and provide users with seamless integration into their smart homes.

While I’m excited about the possibilities, I have a few questions and challenges that I’d love to get your input on. First, how can we best design the SmartApp to ensure it fits seamlessly within the SmartThings architecture? Second, are there any best practices or common pitfalls when developing apps for SmartThings that I should be aware of?

For those interested in helping out, we’re looking for developers who can assist with writing the SmartApp. If you have experience with SmartThings and Z-Wave integration, I’d love to hear from you! Please feel free to drop me a message if you’re intrigued by this opportunity.

I’m also curious to hear about your experiences with smart irrigation systems. Have you successfully integrated similar devices with SmartThings? What features do you think are essential for a smart water valve? Your insights would be invaluable as we refine the Zilker project!

Looking forward to your thoughts and ideas. Let’s make smart irrigation smarter together! :star2:
