Exploring SmartThings Integration with Zigbee and Wyze Devices

Hello everyone! I’m thrilled to join this amazing community and share my experiences with integrating various smart devices into my home ecosystem. I’ve been experimenting with SmartThings, Zigbee, and Wyze devices, and I’d love to hear your thoughts and tips on some of the challenges and successes I’ve encountered.

My Setup and Goals
I recently purchased a Wyze garage controller and several Zigbee sensors. My goal is to create a seamless integration where I can control my garage door and monitor my home’s environment using SmartThings. While I’ve made some progress, there are a few hurdles I’d like to tackle.

Challenges with Wyze Garage Controller
One of the first things I set up was the Wyze garage controller. It worked perfectly when I used voice commands through Alexa to open the garage door. However, closing the door has been a bit of a puzzle. Alexa insists the door is already closed, even when it’s clearly open. This has been a bit frustrating, especially since I can manually close it using the Wyze app. I’m wondering if there’s a way to force Alexa to send a close command regardless of the current state or if there’s a workaround to sync the garage door status more reliably.

Success with Zigbee Devices
On the other hand, integrating my Zigbee sensors has been a breeze! I’ve set up motion detectors and light sensors, and they’re working beautifully with SmartThings. The ability to create custom rules based on motion and light conditions has really enhanced my home automation setup. For example, when motion is detected in the evening, my lights automatically adjust to a comfortable brightness. It’s these small victories that keep me excited about expanding my smart home network.

Looking for Advice
If anyone has experience with the Wyze garage controller and Alexa integration, I’d love to hear your solutions or workarounds for the ‘door is already closed’ issue. Additionally, I’m curious about other devices people have successfully integrated with SmartThings and Zigbee. Are there any lesser-known devices that have surprised you with their functionality?

Future Plans
Looking ahead, I plan to explore more advanced automation scenarios, such as using routines for different times of the day or integrating energy monitoring. I’m also considering adding more Zigbee devices to cover different areas of my home.

Thank you all for your insights and support! I’m eager to learn from your experiences and contribute to this fantastic community.
