I’ve been using TP-Link Deco mesh routers, which recently got a Matter firmware update, so I’m excited to see how these plugs can work with my existing ecosystem.
I own a variety of Z-Wave and Zigbee devices, but I’m looking to expand with some reliable Wi-Fi options. TP-Link offers both Tapo and Kasa lines, but I’m a bit confused about the key differences between them. I’ve heard that both are good, but I want to make an informed decision based on compatibility, features, and community feedback.

I’ve read that Tapo plugs often come with additional features like energy monitoring and sometimes even USB ports, which could be handy. On the other hand, Kasa is known for its sleek design and seamless integration with Alexa and Google Assistant.
I’m also curious about the ecosystem benefits. Since I’m already invested in TP-Link hardware, does one brand offer better synergy with my Deco routers?
