Hey everyone, I’ve been diving into the world of smart home automation lately, and it’s been an absolute blast! I’ve been working on setting up an ESP32 UE with two IR read heads using Tasmota, and while the journey has had its bumps, it’s been incredibly rewarding. The goal is to integrate everything into Home Assistant later on, but right now, I’m focused on getting the basics right.
One of the challenges I’ve encountered is figuring out the right Tasmota version. I initially went with tasmota32.bin, thinking it had everything I needed, but it turns out the script button wasn’t there. After some research and a bit of trial and error, I realized I needed to flash a completely new Tasmota version. It was a bit nerve-wracking, but in the end, it worked out perfectly!
Another area I’ve been exploring is motion sensors. I’ve got a couple of SmartThings motion sensors set up to trigger lights when motion is detected. It’s been mostly smooth, but there have been those occasional hiccups where the lights either don’t turn on when they should or stay on when they’re supposed to turn off. It’s a bit puzzling, but I’ve found that resetting the sensors and tweaking the settings a bit helps keep everything running smoothly.
On a lighter note, I’ve also been experimenting with some DIY projects, like creating custom light effects for my Govee strip lights. It’s amazing how a bit of creativity can transform a space. I’ve been using channel diffusers to soften the light, and the results have been fantastic. It’s been a great way to customize my home without breaking the bank.
I’ve also been inspired by some of the incredible tutorials and shared experiences in this community. Whether it’s someone troubleshooting a complex setup or sharing a clever workaround, it’s clear that this community is a wealth of knowledge. I’ve learned so much just by reading through the forums and seeing how others approach their projects.
As I continue to tweak and refine my setup, I’m excited to see where this journey takes me. The possibilities are endless, and with the support of such an amazing community, I know I’ll be able to overcome any challenges that come my way.
