Exploring the Benefits of Local Tuya Control

Hello everyone, I’m new to the world of smart home devices and I’m really excited to dive in. I recently came across the Aeratron Ceiling Fan, which can be controlled via the Tuya App, and I’m considering purchasing it. However, I have a few questions that I hope the community can help me with.

As far as I understand, Tuya devices are typically cloud-based, but I’ve heard that they can also be controlled locally with the use of a special API key. I’m curious to know if this applies to all Tuya devices or just a select few. If local control is possible, would it be feasible to block the internet access for the device and still have everything function smoothly? I’m really interested in exploring the possibilities of local control to enhance my smart home setup.

I’ve heard some great things about the reliability and ease of use of Tuya devices, but I want to make sure I fully understand the capabilities before making a purchase. I’m also wondering if there are any potential drawbacks or limitations to local control that I should be aware of.

I’m really looking forward to hearing from those who have experience with Tuya devices and local control. Your insights and experiences would be invaluable as I make my decision. Thanks in advance for your help and advice!
