I’ve recently embarked on a backyard lighting project, and I must say, it’s been an absolutely delightful experience! 
The star of the show has undoubtedly been the Govee String Lights. These lights have completely transformed my backyard into a magical oasis, perfect for evening gatherings and relaxation. The installation process was smooth, thanks to the peel-and-stick feature with 3M adhesive. I even had some extra adhesive strips for added security, which was a thoughtful touch by Govee. 
One thing I particularly love about these lights is their brightness and color variety. They’re much brighter than my previous set, and the RGBICWW option allows for endless customization. I’ve used them to create a warm, inviting glow for dinners and even experimented with vibrant colors for festive occasions. The ability to control them via the Govee app has been a huge plus, making it easy to set schedules and adjust settings on the go. 
However, I did run into a small hiccup during the setup. Initially, I struggled with pairing my Huawei smartphone with the Homey system to create automated flows. After some research and reaching out to the community, I discovered that ensuring the phone was listed in the ‘My Phones’ section was key. Once that was sorted, everything fell into place! 
Another aspect I’ve been exploring is motion sensor automation. I set up a rule where the lights turn on when motion is detected and switch off after 20 minutes if no further movement is sensed. It’s been working beautifully, except for one minor tweak—I had to disable the rule during daylight hours to prevent unnecessary activation. Simple enough, and the result is a seamlessly lit backyard without any wasted energy. 
I’m also excited about the memory function on Govee’s air purifier. It remembers my preferred fan speed and night light settings, which adds a personal touch to my home automation setup. It’s these little features that make the entire experience so much more enjoyable. 
Overall, my journey with Govee and Homey has been nothing short of amazing. The products are reliable, the community support is fantastic, and the results are simply stunning.
