Exploring the Integration of Smart Lighting and Motion Sensors

I’ve been diving into the world of smart lighting and motion sensors lately, and it’s been quite an adventure! My goal is to create a seamless experience in my kitchen where the lights automatically turn on when I enter and stay on as long as there’s movement near the sink. I’ve set up a flow using a motion sensor and a light strip, and while it mostly works, there are a few quirks I’m trying to iron out.

Here’s what I’ve noticed: during the day, I’ve set the countdown to 900 seconds, but sometimes the light strip turns off before the countdown reaches zero. I’ve tried splitting the flow into two separate ones and even experimented with different cards to trigger the sink flow, but nothing seems to fix the issue consistently. My devices are Philips Hue, and I’ve moved them from the Philips Hue router to the Homey Pro 2023, hoping to simplify things. However, the problem persists, and I’m not sure if it’s a configuration issue or something else.

I’d love to hear from others who’ve successfully integrated motion sensors and smart lighting. What tricks or tips can you share? Have you encountered similar issues, and if so, how did you resolve them? I’m also curious if anyone has experience with countdown timers in flows and how they’ve managed to get them to work flawlessly. Your insights would be invaluable as I continue to tweak and refine my setup!

On a lighter note, I’ve been impressed with how Philips Hue devices work together once everything is set up correctly. It’s amazing how a little automation can make everyday tasks feel so much more convenient. I’m excited to keep experimenting and see where this journey takes me next!
