I’ve been using the Wyze Vacuum for a few months now, and while I’m generally pleased with its performance, there are a few software-related quirks that I hope will be addressed in future updates. As someone who’s had experience with other robot vacuums, I’ve noticed a few features that are missing or could be improved upon.
One of the main issues I’ve encountered is the lack of voice control options. While I understand that not everyone might want their vacuum speaking to them, having the ability to toggle voice notifications on or off would be incredibly helpful. I typically run the vacuum at night, and the last thing I need is it announcing its every move. I’d love to see this feature added, as it’s something I’ve come to expect from other smart devices.
Another area that could use some work is the room mapping functionality. My kitchen and dining room are connected by a doorway, but the vacuum sees them as one large room. I’d love to have the option to divide these spaces further, which would allow me to clean just the kitchen without disturbing the peace in the adjacent bedroom. This seems like a relatively simple fix, and I’m hopeful that it’s on the development roadmap.
Integration with popular smart home ecosystems like Alexa and Google Home is another area where I’d like to see improvement. While I appreciate that this is planned, the lack of direct integration with Home Assistant is a bit frustrating. Having the vacuum automatically start cleaning when the house is empty and return when someone arrives would make my life much easier.
Despite these minor annoyances, I’m still impressed with the Wyze Vacuum overall. It’s a great value for the price, and I’m optimistic that the development team will continue to refine the software. If you’re considering purchasing one, I’d recommend giving it a try—it’s a solid choice for most households.
