Hello everyone, I’m thrilled to be diving into the world of home automation with Vera! As a newcomer, I’m eager to harness its power to create a seamless lighting experience across my home. My initial focus is on setting up a sophisticated system for my home theater and basement, with plans to expand to other areas later. However, I have a few questions that I hope the community can help clarify.
Firstly, I’m curious about Vera’s ability to establish two-way communication between dimmers and the controller. Ensuring that adjustments made on the dimmer are reflected in Vera and vice versa is crucial for a smooth user experience. Additionally, I’m exploring the possibility of integrating my MX-980 universal remote control to manage Vera’s lighting scenes and macros via RF signals throughout the house. This would allow me to control the ambiance of my home theater effortlessly from any room.
Another concern is Vera’s adaptability to manual changes during scenes. For instance, if a light is manually dimmed or turned on before a scene is executed, will Vera adjust accordingly to ensure the scene runs smoothly? This feature is essential for maintaining consistency and avoiding abrupt changes in lighting.
I’m also seeking recommendations on compatible Z-Wave dimmers and controllers that would work seamlessly with Vera and the MX-980. My setup includes six zones and six dimmers, all located in the same area initially. I envision creating macros for activities like watching a movie, where lights gradually dim and turn off, and then adjust back to a comfortable level when the movie pauses.
I’m excited to get started and would greatly appreciate any insights or advice from those with experience in Vera setups. Looking forward to connecting with the community and learning more about the possibilities Vera offers!
