Hello everyone! I’ve been diving into the world of Z-Wave devices lately and wanted to share my experiences and some insights I’ve gained along the way.
I recently purchased a couple of Aeotec 7 range extenders and Inovelli Red dimmers, both running on the latest firmware. My goal was to integrate these devices seamlessly into my existing Z-Wave network. However, the journey hasn’t been without its bumps.
I’ve encountered some challenges with adding these devices to my C7 S2 setup. Despite performing a complete Z-Wave reset, which I understand is necessary to ensure a fresh start, I’ve still faced issues with device initialization. It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster—sometimes the devices initialize successfully, other times I’m met with timeouts or ghost devices. It’s frustrating, but I’m determined to figure this out!
One thing I’ve noticed is that even when the devices do appear in the device list, the Z-Wave radio status shows security as “None.” I was under the impression that with the recent C7 firmware updates, these S2 issues should have been resolved. Is this a common experience, or am I missing something?
I’ve also tried troubleshooting by resetting the Z-Wave radio multiple times, but the issues persist. It’s a bit disheartening, but I’m still hopeful that with some persistence and maybe a few more resets, I’ll get everything working smoothly.
On a more positive note, I’ve found the community support here to be incredibly helpful. If anyone has tips or tricks for ensuring a stable Z-Wave setup, especially with S2 devices, I’d love to hear them!
In the meantime, I’m continuing to experiment and document my findings. It’s a learning process, and I’m grateful for every small victory along the way.
