Hi everyone, I’ve been diving into the world of smart home tech lately and wanted to share some of my experiences and questions. First off, I’ve been reading a lot about the new Z-Wave Long Range (Z-Wave LR) specification. From what I understand, it offers four times the range of standard Z-Wave, a battery life of up to 10 years, and compatibility with existing Z-Wave devices. This sounds like a game-changer for expanding my smart home setup without worrying about range issues or frequent battery replacements. I’m curious to hear how others are implementing this technology and if they’ve noticed any significant improvements in reliability or coverage.
On another note, I’ve been trying to set up a laundry monitor in my home. The idea is to get notifications when my laundry cycle starts or ends, but I’m running into some issues. How does the sensor know when the laundry cycle has actually started? I’m concerned that if the sensor doesn’t activate properly, I might get constant notifications even when the machine isn’t in use. Has anyone successfully set this up, and if so, what steps did you take to ensure accurate detection?
I also came across a discussion about the different types of Govee thermometers available. It seems like there are quite a few options, and I’m not sure which one would be best for my needs. I’d love to hear if anyone has recommendations or has found a particular model to be especially reliable or versatile.
Lastly, I’ve been experimenting with customizing the color of icons based on sensor readings. I’m using a Shelly 1PM to monitor power consumption for my pool pump and chlorinator. I’ve managed to set up a basic template that changes the icon color when the pump is running, but I’m looking to add more conditions. Specifically, I want the icon to reflect whether the pump is off, in standby, or actively running. I’ve tried tweaking the code a bit, but I’m not quite there yet. If anyone has experience with this kind of setup or can offer some guidance, I’d really appreciate it!
Overall, I’m really enjoying the journey of integrating more smart devices into my home, and I’m excited to see how these technologies continue to evolve. I’d love to hear your thoughts, tips, and experiences with any of these topics!
