Exploring Z-Wave Sensors for Home Security

Hi everyone, I’m diving into the world of home automation and security, and I’m curious about using Z-Wave sensors for my setup. After reading through various forums and doing some research, I’m torn between using Z-Wave sensors for my security system or investing in a dedicated alarm system that can integrate with my Vera controller.I live in the Netherlands, and while I’ve heard great things about systems like DSC and Honeywell, they’re not readily available here. This leaves me with options like Visonic Powermax, but the costs are quite high compared to Z-Wave alternatives. I’m also limited to wireless systems since I can’t run wires in my existing home. From what I’ve read, Z-Wave sensors have had some reliability issues, especially with motion sensors and door-window sensors. However, many of these issues seem to stem from improper installation or the need for firmware updates. I’m wondering if these problems are more common with older devices or if they persist with newer models.I’m particularly interested in devices from Everspring, Fibaro, and Vision. I’d love to hear from anyone who has experience with these brands. How reliable have they been in your setups? Do you encounter false triggers often? What about battery life? I’m also curious if there are specific models you’d recommend over others. On the other hand, I’m considering if a dedicated alarm system like Visonic Powermax would be worth the investment, despite the higher cost. I’m trying to weigh the pros and cons of each option, balancing reliability, cost, and ease of integration with my Vera system. If anyone has tips or recommendations based on their experiences, I’d be grateful to hear them. Whether it’s about choosing the right Z-Wave sensors or making the case for a dedicated alarm system, I’m looking for insights to help me make an informed decision.
