Hi everyone, I’ve been diving into the world of smart home automation lately and wanted to share some of my experiences and questions. I’ve recently come across a Zigbee power meter on the side of my house, and I’m curious if there’s a way to integrate it into my home automation setup. I’ve heard Zigbee devices can be a bit tricky, so I’m wondering if anyone has had success with similar devices or has any tips to get started. ![]()
On another note, I’ve been working with MQTT to control some relay switches around my home. It’s been a great experience, but I’ve encountered a peculiar issue. After a recent power outage, my MQTT commands started sending random payload values like “ON” and “OFF” instead of the usual “0” and “1”. This was a bit confusing since the logs showed the correct commands being sent. Luckily, after restarting the OpenHAB service, everything went back to normal. I’m curious if anyone else has experienced this or knows why it might happen. ![]()
I’d also love to hear about others’ experiences with integrating different smart home devices. For example, I’ve been eyeing some Wyze cameras but am concerned about missing features like audio in RTSP streams. Has anyone found a workaround for this? Any tips would be greatly appreciated! ![]()
Lastly, I wanted to share my excitement about the Home Assistant community. It’s amazing to see how passionate everyone is about creating and sharing solutions. Keep up the fantastic work! ![]()
If anyone has insights or advice on these topics, I’d love to hear from you. Happy automating! ![]()
