Export trigger on HomeKit when a specific person arrives

It would be very useful if when some specific person arrived in front of the aqara G410 a trigger would appear on HomeKit to trigger some automation, like automatically opening a gate.

This works with Advanced Matter Bridging. You simply create a signal that triggers upon face recognition. If you add the Hub as a Matter bridge, this signal appears as a switch in Apple Home. However, this causes all bridged Zigbee devices to appear twice (once via HomeKit, once via Matter).

Alternatively, to avoid duplicates, you can use a smart plug (or dummy switch) as a trigger. Just set up an automation in the Aqara App: If Face Detected → Turn Plug On. You can then use the plug turning on as the trigger for your automation in Apple Home.

Firstly I’m not clear what the hub you’re mentioning is; perhaps the aqara one, that however I do not own, having already quite a few of other border routers. Also I sort of created a dummy switch by turning off an alarm I do not have, but that switch does not appear on apple home.

Of course you have an Aqara hub. You have an Aqara Doorbell Camera Hub G410. Please check the link “Advanced Matter Bridging” that I posted, where the G410 is also listed under “What is needed”. All you have to do is install the Aqara app. Set up the Hub G410. Don’t add the hub to Apple Home via HomeKit, but via Matter. Then please read the section “How can I make Aqara Home actions and conditions available for Matter?” on the linked page.

As said, I have no aqara hub to start with, and no interest in acquiring it, possibly for principle, given matter should have solved all interconnection issues. As also said, whatever I do on the aqara app, nothing appears on the home app.

Of course also the G410 is an hub, and so I do not know why it does not properly work.

I actually was able to execute the procedure, even if the matter option is given as limited trial, perhaps subjected to some subscription.

Sorry for the confusion, the current feature is implemented locally, and will be provided for free now and in the future. Please ignore this tag, we will discuss removing it.

Strangely enough, this is not displayed for me. Which version of the Aqara app (Profile → Settings → About) do you have?
